What Customers Say About Uniden BC92XLT Bearcat Handheld Scanner:

Hope this helps. Thanks Amazon. Overall, I am very satisfied with the purchase. It can be easily clipped to a belt or pant pocket and the antenna is easily removable for packing it away for a trip. Like most products on Amazon, there are several companies and prices to choose from. The manual is in paperback form and fairly easy to use and understand. The display is easily lit if needed.

You may need a police and fire catalog to obtain the frequency channel numbers with which to enter into the unit as it does not come preprogrammed. For around $100.00, the price is reasonable. The unit charges automatically when plugged into 110 outlets or inverters if you are camping or relying on a generator. The signal is strong and reception is clear most everywhere. Especially if you are making purchases during a promotional period and shipping fees are reduced or free. I purchased this item brand new as a gift.

It has plenty of channels, works well with batteries and holds a charge efficiently with alkaline or rechargable batteries. The weather updates and sports frequencies are an added convenience.

I really can't review this product because I am waiting patientlyto have it sent to me.It has been ordered for quite some time now.

It is easy to program if you know how to read and follow instructions and find desired frequencies on the web. Scanner works great. Those that can't read and follow instructions will find this scanner impossible to put to use.

As a transpotter, I must have those frequencies because it is only in those frequencies that the federal government and the Association of American Railroads permit communication. Oh, it works where it is supposed to work but it is darn difficult to program. Perhaps my cousin would like it. Clemens' name has been stricken from library files because too few people know he is "Mark Twain"; rather than buy components, most of us are advised to buy "home theater" equipment even if we only want the audio; even cell phones are becoming rolling packs of trivia and "personalized" ring tones.

He goes to NASCAR races down in North Carolina. And worst of all for me, I simply have not been able to get it to accept signals in the 160-161 Mhz frequencies to follow my railroading hobby. Fear not, for one aspect of American life has remained as technically frustrating, jargon-laden and obscurantist as any pedant could want: scanners. People say our society has becomed "dumbed down": you know, Samuel L. Specifically this one.

Betty Bearcat, why are you so hard to deal with.

The scanner reminds me of the early computers that only computer geeks could understand. It seems to be of top quality performance wise and works well. Eventually I will master all of it's functions but it is like pulling teeth. Programing is hard to understand. Let the friend set it up to get you started. Still have problems performing basic functions by following the directions.

If you have a friend that already has this scanner definetly buy it. Very difficult to understand directions. The scanner works very well for the knowledge that I have of it. This would be a great product for the price if the programing were more people friendly like today's computers.
